The Ferrari was delivered new to Italauto SA in Lausanne, Switzerland, finished in Argento with Rosso Connolly leather interior, and first owned by Mr Pierre Busy. Subsequent Swiss ownership included a Basel-based architect, followed by Fritz S. Kern of Arlesheim from circa 1980.
In 1991 the car passed to Ernst Scheidegger in Brunnen, and when offered for sale in 1993 it was described as highly original, having reportedly been unused for the preceding twelve years. In 1994 the Ferrari was acquired by Mr Stüssi, another Swiss architect.
In 2003 the car moved to Belgium where it remained until October 2022, when it was acquired by the current owner at the Bonhams Zoute Sale. At that time the odometer showed a believed genuine 46, 000 km.
At the time of purchase the car was fitted with engine no. 9059, which had reportedly been installed more than twenty years earlier while the car was still in Switzerland.
Subsequently the car’s original matching-numbers cylinder block (8505) was rebuilt by renowned Ferrari specialists Foskers, restoring the car to its correct matching-numbers configuration.
During this extensive programme of work the following were addressed:
• Complete engine rebuild to original specification
• Gearbox overhaul
• Suspension overhaul
• Brake system refurbishment
• Carburettors rebuilt
• Gauges serviced
• Interior refreshed with new carpets
In addition, Bell Sport & Classic carried out further works in April 2025, including:
• Refurbishment of bearings
• Fuel system and pumps overhaul
• Air-conditioning system refurbishment
• Heater system servicing
Total documented expenditure on the car now exceeds £120, 000, with invoices from Foskers and other recognised specialists on file.
