Description

This Race Car Replicas 917 was purchased new by the seller in December 2022, and it is powered by a 6. 2-liter GM LS3 V8 paired with a Porsche-sourced G96 six-speed manual transaxle. The fiberglass body is finished in silver with replica #3 Martini livery over a TIG-welded aluminum front monocoque and rear tubular steel frame, and additional equipment includes dual aluminum radiators, QA1 coilovers, Wilwood disc brakes, 15″ three-piece center-lock wheels, turn signals, a roll cage, bucket seats trimmed in red cloth with RaceQuip harnesses, and a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel on a quick-release hub. This RCR 917 is now offered with an Oregon title in the seller’s name that lists the car as a 1969 Porsche.

The original 917 was developed by Porsche beginning in 1968 in anticipation of changes to FIA homologation rules allowing low-production prototypes to contest the 5. 0-liter class of World Sports Car Championship competition. With power from a flat-12, the 917 claimed back-to-back victories at Le Mans while helping Porsche claim the 1970 and 1971 International Championship of Makes titles.

The fiberglass bodywork on this RCR replica is finished in silver with #3 Martini & Rossi Racing Team livery in tribute to Porsche 917 #020, which was piloted by Vic Elford and Gerard Larrousse to first place overall at the 1971 12 Hours of Sebring. Equipment includes high- and low-beam LED covered headlights, turn signals, dual fender-mounted side mirrors, a glass wraparound windshield, polycarbonate side windows with hinged vents, hinged Gurney flaps on each side of the tail panel, and NACA ducts on the nose and rear flanks.

The 15″ three-piece center-lock wheels measure 8″ in width up front and 12″ at the rear and are finished in black with blue, red, and white accents, and they are mounted with Avon tires. The suspension incorporates front upper and lower and rear lower control arms with Heim joints as well as tubular rear radius rod links. Billet aluminum uprights and QA1 coilovers are fitted at all four corners, and the car is further equipped with rack-and-pinion steering. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood disc brakes.

The left-hand-drive cockpit houses bucket seats trimmed in red cloth and equipped with RaceQuip harnesses, and additional equipment includes a roll cage and a fire extinguisher mounted on the driver’s door sill.

The MOMO Prototipo steering wheel is mounted on a quick-release hub ahead of a dash panel wearing a Raptor black crackle paint finish. RCR-branded instrumentation, including an 8k-rpm tachometer and gauges for fuel level and water temperature, is mounted ahead of the driver, while a 200-mph speedometer, a voltmeter, and an oil pressure gauge are fitted on a chrome panel below the dash. The digital odometer shows nine miles, and the seller tells us that the car was driven on track for approximately 60 miles before a replacement speedometer cable was installed in 2025.

The 6. 2-liter GM LS3 V8 features a K&N cold-air intake, and it is mounted along with twin aluminum radiators, electric cooling fans, and an overflow tank. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Porsche-sourced G96 six-speed manual transaxle. The car is titled by its chassis number RCRthe details below.
