Description
**** Complete restoration 2015/ 2016 **** Riding machine for two-wheel enthusiasts! The A10 Golden Flash offered here dates from 1960, has an air-cooled parallel twin, an overhead camshaft, two valves per cylinder actuated via push rods and rocker arms, displacement 647 cm³, power 26 kW (35 hp) at 5800 rpm and is specified with a top speed of 160 km/ h. The BSA was dismantled in 12 months, all painted parts sandblasted, primed and painted with 2K wet paint. Everything that was defective was replaced or extensively repaired. Here is just a rough list of the work and parts: new rims, a contemporary duplex drum brake was fitted at the front. All cables renewed, cables renewed, tyres renewed, new brake pads fitted, complete exhaust system renewed. The engine was professionally rebuilt at Bikersmill in Aachen (all bearings, pistons 1st oversize, crankshaft finely balanced etc.). An oil sump from SRM, a reinforced oil pump from SRM and the conversion of the magneto drive to V-belts from SRM were fitted. The magneto was also overhauled by a specialist workshop. The Amal carburettor came new from England. The primary drive was converted from chain to toothed belt (conversion kit from Bob Newby/ England), including dry clutch. The gearbox, steering head bearing and swingarm bearing were also overhauled. Many improvements were implemented to make the BSA absolutely suitable for everyday use. Since the overhaul, the BSA has run approx. 2, 500 problem-free miles. It starts up even after a long standstill, has a gigantic sound and can still keep up with traffic without any problems even in this day and age. Certainly not all the work and parts that have been incorporated over the last 8 years are listed here. The Golden Flash is not a "blender" but a riding machine that is a hell of a lot of fun and puts a grin on your face every time you ride it. Why am I offering it for sale? I've been able to enjoy it for almost 8 years now and have recently started getting into Japanese two-strokes. Something completely different, but things change over time. So if anyone would like to call a rare English lady their own, please let me know. One more thing: if anyone would like to make a comparison with other Golden Flash bikes that are offered at a significantly lower price (if there are any on the market at all): ask for proof of what has been done to the bikes! Restoration is VERY expensive, time-consuming and cannot be done without expertise. Parts are hard to come by. Here you get a fully restored bike that only needs the usual maintenance work. I have several hundred photos for all phases of the restoration and all receipts for the work and the parts purchased. There are also a few custom tools, a box full of parts and lots of service sheets, repair manual and spare parts list. I bought the BSA A10 Golden Flash in July 2015 from a dealer in Austria who had imported the BSA from England. It was supposed to be in running order, which unfortunately turned out to be a mistake. Unfortunately, I only realised this after buying it at home.
