Porsche 944 2. 7
This lovely example is a true testament to the previous owners, who have clearly looked after this car.
This particular model was first delivered on 12/ 01/ 1989 by Merlin Porsche in Chesterfield in what can be described as a true period-correct 80s colour of Linen Grey Metallic (Gold), which changes in different light. It also has navy electric lined Porsche logo seats and a detachable roof panel.
Being a 1989 model, this 944 has the benefit of the upgraded and more desirable naturally aspirated 2. 7 engine, which was only produced in limited numbers for one year and boasts 165bhp. Not only does this make it more rare, according to records there are currently only 41 RHD models left on UK roads.
SERVICE HISTORY
This 944 is backed by a very thorough, detailed service history supporting its mileage, with many MOT certificates, 15 book service stamps by Porsche specialists and 6 brake fluid changes until 2007. The service invoices and receipts are then present from 2007 to date, which results in a huge A4 file of documents with service receipts and bills in excess of £18, 000 over the years.
The car has benefited from having the brakes overhauled and fuel lines replaced recently, along with belts being done (timing belt). All book packs and literature are present, and I would honestly say this 944 is mechanically excellent and drives very well. I have owned 3 previous 944s as well as a 924 - I spent a very long time looking for the right car. I have also sought out a Porsche mechanic/ enthusiast who has worked on the car, replacing the exhaust, changing the cambelt, doing MOTs, etc.
BODYWORK & INTERIOR
This Porsche has been well looked after and can be described as in great overall condition for its age. The bodywork is in excellent condition, with only a few age-related stone chips.
As you step into this 80s classic, the dashboard brings back a feeling of true 80s nostalgia; you will be able to see the carpets, roof lining and cabin area in excellent condition all around.
Since these pictures, I have replaced the original steering wheel with a Momo Prototipo. I have also had a Dansk exhaust fitted, which has a lovely sound (not too loud).
Please keep in mind, due to the age of the car, there are some normal dashboard cracks present, but in my opinion this adds to the character of the car and goes well with the originality offered by this example.
WHEELS
All 4 wheels have been professionally refurbished and fitted with matching Continental tyres all around. They are the Porsche D90 wheels, which are the best combination for weight/ road use.
Private Plate
The registration is a private plate that also encapsulates the 944 to a tee!
This car was supposedly also first purchased by a famous member of a band.
Like mentioned above, I have had a few of these 944s over the years - this one I have kept for a reason; it truly is an excellent car.
MOT until April 2027.
Please note, I’m using this car for my personal wedding, so the car will be available after the 12th of May. I spent a long time finding the right 944, having owned a few over the years, and this one stood out straight away because of how well it had been looked after and how it drives. The 2. 7 engine makes it feel that bit stronger and more usable, and the colour combination with the navy interior just gives it a proper 80s Porsche feel that’s hard to find now. It’s the kind of car you can just get in and enjoy — it feels solid, looks right, and has the history to back it up.
