Description
For sale is my Alfa 156 Sportwagon on 124, 572 miles (will rise slightly). I bought it in March after a long search for the right Alfa to enjoy alongside my daily BMW, but a huge increase in my multi-car insurance renewal means I can no longer justify keeping both. I'll be gutted to see it go, having spent the last three months getting it sorted and ready to enjoy as a summer daily and event car.
The car has driven really well since I bought it, including the 100-mile drive home without any issues. It still pulls well by modern standards, the gearbox is smooth and the clutch feels great after I replaced the slave cylinder shortly after buying it. It's fitted with a GTA clutch and, more importantly, a Quaife LSD fitted by Autolusso at 97k miles, which makes a huge difference to how the car puts its power down. It's also on Bilstein shocks and Eibach Pro-Kit springs, which improve the handling and give it a much better stance without making it a pain to drive every day.
A few minor faults to mention: the temperature gauge sits at around 70°C while driving despite a new thermostat, although the cooling fan operates correctly and the car stays below 90°C in traffic. There is also a small oil leak, believed to be from the front rocker cover gasket; I have the replacement gasket but haven't had time to fit it. The rear electric windows are inoperative, and the air conditioning could do with a regas, although previous leak repairs should mean the system holds pressure correctly.
I have fitted a custom stainless steel exhaust system with a catalyst, replacing the original system and damaged flexi section. It sounds fantastic, although it is quite loud. If it's not to your taste, the original exhaust is included and would be perfectly usable with a small repair.
Mechanically wise, there has been a ridiculous amount of money spent on this car, I will try and list all the major work over the last 4 years below.

The interior is probably my favourite part of the car, as you can see in the photos it has beautiful unmarked tan leather seats with black doorcards - you can see how good it's condition is through the photos. It also has a Sony Carplay radio, I actually quite like this and it's been useful when i've used it on some longer drives but I understand it's not to everyone's taste, so I have bought an original radio with the code that can be installed.
Bodywork wise, the car is really good - the paintwork looks to be new, and it has a huge glisten when in the sun. One of the sill covers/ side skirt is cracked, which I have included in the photos. The wheels also have a bit of kerb rash, but the car was used in London for basically 20 years!
Rust wise, there is none - it is absolutely mint underneath and I have included some photos to show how clean it is.
I don't really know what else there is to say, It's quite a comprehensive description but if you have any questions feel free to ask or text on the details below.
Thanks,
Joe
