1974 Alfa Romeo GT Junior 1300
Rarely such cars are offered to market; a true time warp 1970’s Alfa Romeo.

Delivered new to Florence in 1974 and ordered in the beautiful ‘verde Pino’ with ‘Cuoio naturale tessuto plastificato’ interior; or to you or I, pine green with tan fabric seats.
with only 2 previous Italian family owners from new (Uncle - Vincenzo now of very senior years who passed it to his nephew Enzo in 2003 when he gave up driving - Both of the same surname, are the only owners on the Italian logbook until it was subsequently purchased by an Italian car specialist and imported into the UK.
From there it has just had one UK owner, from which I purchased via the supplying dealer.
A genuine 63, 000km (39, 000miles) from new, unrestored and very, very original. seldom do any cars from the 1970’s present themselves in such a way, more so an Alfa Romeo; many now have been ‘restored’ a number of times with pattern parts and varying degrees of quality.
The body:
The body has had a single repaint in its life in 2015 to a very high standard, where the panels/ sills/ floors etc were all found to be in excellent condition and the paint was simply refreshed. The body is corrosion free with a good depth of shine to the paint with excellent panel gaps. The colour is absolutely stunning and really suits the 105 perfectly. Door handles/ badges etc are all original with all the mouldings/ chrome work in excellent condition. The lights are all the original Carello units in remarkable condition.
The windows are all the original glass.
The interior:
Truly a time warp, very 1970’s and very chic. The seats are all original with their original fabrics in fantastic condition with very, very minute wear to be noted to the drivers seat. The carpet is the original and without any worn through patches or cigarette burns typical of the era, more so an Italian car!
Refreshing to see a car that is original and has not had pattern parts thrown at it. A more modern stereo has been fit along the way, in replacement of the 1980’s CD player a younger Vincenzo had fit.. other than that it remains in its factory spec and in a condition that is unrepeatable in my opinion.
The engine:
The little 1300cc nord belies its small capacity and is engaging and characterful while remaining supringly frugal and economical; there is a reason the nord engines are championed and celebrated. This engine with the mileage of just 39, 000 is in fine fettle; easily started and runs very well through its original Delorto carburettors. The engine bay is a demonstration of originality, study the photos and if you are like me, you’ll see the difference between the normal.
The car has been serviced with new fluids and filters along with fuel hoses and consumables.
The gearbox/ clutch:
The gearbox operates with no fuss or hesitation and selects gears precisely, no bearing noises are noted and the shorter ratio box of the 1300 complements the revvy engine perfectly.
The clutch is easy to operate and bites where you’d expect/ want it to and has no judder. The clutch slave cylinder looks to have been replaced fairly recently.
The brakes:
The brakes stop the car with ease and have no sticky calipers etc.
New front calipers, brake hoses and pads all around were fit recently along with a new brake master cylinder. The steel hardlines fit from new still feature and really show how gentle of a life the car has had. The handbrake operates as it should and holds the car adequately.
Wheels and tyres:
The wheels are still the original 14” steel units shod with Pirelli P4 tyres (of some age) the wheels at the point of the body having a refresh were also refinished as per original.
The boot:
The rear boot/ luggage area is amazingly original with all its original panels and spare wheel well in their respective original finishes, very, very seldom is this seen on 105’s. Please see the photos! The original Battani jack and wheel brace are present along with an original bulb set.
Provenance:
The car has its certificate of authenticity from Marco Fazio of Alfa Romeo showing its original colours and original engine number etc showing the car to be as it left the factory.
The original service book accompanies the car with its supplying dealer stamped (Bruno Raspanti) of Florence. Subsequent services are stamped from Raspanti and latterly Ruggiero Rocco of Florence. Then stamped in the UK from Thorogood and the supplying dealer. This in itself it’s remarkably rare.
