1930's The golden age of Land Speed Records sparked a global frenzy, captivating the public as the legendary Englishman Sir Malcolm Campbell regularly risked his life to hit that magic 300mph barrier. Each year over the previous decade, had seen more speed and of course more interest. This was also the golden era of car manufactures introducing "Art Deco" and "Speeding" when stationary cars. This stunning Talbot 105AV was bodied by 'Abbotts of Farnham' in 1933. Abbott already had the contract to build bodies for Talbot and its understood this Speeding Fin Tail, clearly a one off was destine to exhibit both Abbotts and Talbots craftsmanship and partnership. The car was displayed on the Abbott's Stand (No 43) at the Motor Show at Olympia in 1933, where it subsequently won the Concours d'Elegance. The car was then used as personal transport for William Roots wife. The cars history is well known and documented including its full restoration with I. S. Polson; John the son of Ian fondly talks about the time he was driven around in this particular car during its restoration and the original front 'steel' wings (replaced with ali to lighten the steering) still lay behind the garden shed. The car is in fact a 4 seater with a beautiful aluminum panel that slides back revealing an additional 2 seats making it a ideal family, touring car and certainly one for the Concours d'Elgance circuit. However you wish to use this Talbot, you wont be disappointed.
