1971 Porsche 911T Lux – UK RHD – Matching Numbers
1971 Porsche 911T Lux, supplied new in the UK by AFN. A genuine UK right-hand-drive longhood that retains its original matching-numbers engine and is finished in its factory colour of Ivory White.
The Lux was a relatively rare and desirable specification of the 911T, giving buyers many of the cosmetic and comfort features more commonly associated with the more expensive 911E and 911S. Lux equipment included the distinctive Fuchs alloy wheels, upgraded exterior and interior trim, electric windows and leather steering wheel, making it a considerably better appointed car than the standard T. The car retains its period stereo with the discreet addition of Bluetooth for everyday usability.
The car has an unusually good history of long-term ownership, with around 25 years spent with just two owners. The previous owner had the car for approximately 15 years, having bought it as a project in 2011 from an owner who had it 10 years. He then embarked on an extensive programme of restoration and recommissioning.
There are parts invoices totalling in excess of £40, 000 from his ownership, with a huge number of components renewed as the car was brought back to the road. The result today is a very attractive and usable early 911 with a great deal of expenditure already behind it.
Importantly, I want to be open about where I see the car sitting in the market. Although it is a very solid car that has benefited from considerable expenditure, the final fit and finish of some of the exterior panelling is not to the level of a £100k+ specialist restoration. There are areas of panel fit and detailing that could be improved if the next owner wanted to take the car to that level.
I therefore see it as a very good driver-quality longhood rather than a concours car: one that looks great, can be used and enjoyed now, and provides a very strong basis for someone who may wish to progressively improve over time.
That distinction is also reflected in the £59, 995 asking price. Fully restored, matching-numbers UK RHD longhoods occupy a very different part of the market, whereas this provides an opportunity to own a rare Lux-specification, UK-supplied RHD 911, in its factory colour and with its original matching-numbers engine, without paying six-figure money.

The car is stored away from my family home and, with two young children, arranging viewings takes a little organisation.
