Offered for sale is a genuine 1924 Lagonda 12/ 24 Tourer, a rare survivor of one of the most technically interesting British light cars of the vintage era.

Introduced in 1923 as a modernisation of Lagonda's earlier light-car range, the 12/ 24 is notable for its advanced semi-monocoque construction — chassis and lower body riveted together as a single unit, a method more commonly associated with the contemporary Lancia Lambda than with a British light car of the early 1920s. Power comes from a 1420cc four-cylinder engine with overhead inlet and exhaust valves, driving through a three-speed manual gearbox and a spiral-bevel rear axle. Around 2, 250 examples of the 12/ 24 were built between 1923 and 1925, and very few are known to survive today — the model is a genuine rarity on the pre-war market.

This particular car, chassis 7713 / engine 9333, carries a documented history stretching back decades: period UK registration papers from 1976 and 1984 survive with the car, along with a German Fahrzeugschein (vehicle registration document) from an undated later period, tracing the car's journey from Britain through Germany before arriving in Hungary. It passed through the hands of another Hungarian collector before being acquired by our family in 1997, in whose ownership it has remained ever since.

The car currently wears British Racing Green paintwork, applied by our family after the car's arrival — not its original colour. When the car came to us, it wore a poorly-preserved brown finish, which we repainted in British Racing Green.

Mechanically the car is in running, driveable order. It has not been used for regular road journeys in recent years, but has been started once or twice annually and kept in heated, dry storage throughout — a sympathetic form of static preservation rather than daily use. As with any vintage car returning to the road after a period of light use, a mechanical inspection and recommissioning is recommended before extended driving.

Detail photographs are available on request. The car is located near Pécs, Hungary, and viewing can be arranged locally.

A rare opportunity to acquire one of the very few surviving examples of this historically significant early Lagonda.
