Description
Barn find - well almost! Unique rally prepared Rover 2000! This car was in long term ownership of my friend Rob Lyall who worked at Rovers on the development of the P6 but was also a serious motor sport enthusiast and a member of prestigious Ecurie Cod Filet.
He took part in numerous rallies over the years including the 1970 London-Mexico and was the co-driver on the AC Cobra that won the inaugural Pirelli Marathon in 1988.
When Rover ceased rallying in the early sixties the surplus competition equipment was thrown in a skip. Rob rescued it and in retirement built up a P6 as it would have been for rallying.
He ran the car for many years but ill health about five years ago relegated it to his garage.
This car is ideal for an enthusiast to take part in historic rallies or simply to take along to shows as an example of a period set up.
The sought after Halda comes complete with all the spare cogs to set the accurate calculations for precise navigation.
DOM needs a little TLC but would be a rewarding project with a fascinating history.
