Description
An exceptionally original early production Carrera 2. 7 RS Touring. Built in November 1972 as one of the original 500 cars produced for the Group 4 Homologation - having extra gear box supports, lighter gauge steel and high quality ducktail spoiler - making this a rare example of the marque. The vehicle still retains is original lightweight roof, floor pans, front and rear bulkheads and ducktail. It would have originally been built as M471 destined for the track but due a hold up of parts & production problems the car was converted to M472 by the factory and sold to a Swiss dealer in its original colour of Viper Green. After spending its early life in Switzerland, it then travelled to Germany where it was converted back to a lightweight spec and painted in the iconic RS colour of Grand Prix White. In 1989 the vehicle found its way to the UK via David Alston Specialist Cars and was purchased by the current owner that year. It was restored by the respected Porsche restorer Shaun John in 2007 and the mechanical parts were overhauled by Parr Motorsport (all documented). After the light restoration the car went into heated storage and has been there ever since. Only taken out for services, etc. The vehicle has covered a mere 61170km with history, some in Swiss and some in German. Original compressor, toolkit, wheel spacers and touch up paint. This is a lovely example of a genuine Carrera 2. 7 RS and although non matching numbers, it presents and drives beautifully and retains a lot of its originality. Inspection by appointment only.
