Description
1977 Yamaha TT500 – A fantastic example of Yamaha’s legendary big-bore four-stroke, with period styling and some worthwhile upgrades.
Originally imported from the USA and now fully UK registered, this 1977 TT500 is a great example of the iconic air-cooled single-cylinder Yamaha that helped establish the reputation of Japanese four-stroke off-road motorcycles.
The bike was originally finished in Yamaha yellow but has been converted to the striking orange colour scheme shown in the photographs, complete with a replica aluminium fuel tank. The original yellow parts are included in the sale, offering the option to return it to its earlier appearance.

The TT500 is increasingly sought after for its simplicity, rugged engineering and unmistakable character. Its torquey 500cc four-stroke engine, relatively lightweight construction and classic enduro styling make it equally appealing to collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate vintage motorcycles.
This example benefits from some sensible mechanical improvements while retaining the essential character of the original machine. Particularly noteworthy are the original Yamaha lighting kit and air intake components, both desirable features on a bike of this age.
It starts readily, has been run exclusively on ethanol-free fuel and has received a recent oil change.
With its UK registration, period Yamaha equipment, aluminium tank and upgraded intake and exhaust, this is an opportunity to own a distinctive example of a genuine 1970s off-road icon.
