Description

1933 Austin 10 Four-Door Saloon

Company / History

The Austin Seven originated from Sir Herbert Austin’s initiative, who after the First World War wanted to create a very affordable car to enable young families to access motoring. Despite opposition from the board, Austin developed the project with the help of Stanley Edge and launched in 1922 the Austin Seven, a small economical car (“people’s car”) which enjoyed great success in Europe and abroad.

Austin 10
The Austin Ten, often called the Ten-Four or simply the Austin 10, was launched on 19 April 1932. It quickly became Austin’s best-selling model in the 1930s and remained in production after the Second World War.

From its launch, the Austin Ten range expanded with a variety of body styles, such as the four-door saloon (like this Austin 10), but also two- and four-seat tourers, two-seat sports models and convertibles.

History

This gorgeous Austin 10 was imported to the Netherlands in 1976 and has had several owners. The previous owner bought the car after a complete restoration. With the end of his hobby, he decided to sell the Austin, and we were able to add it to our collection.

The car today

The Austin 10 is in restored condition. The interior and exterior have been carefully brought back to as-new condition and the car is superb. The headlining and the sunroof are also in excellent condition and work perfectly.

The Austin runs and shifts gears smoothly. The front and rear headlights operate, as shown in the photos.
