The Appeal
The name says it all. Dean Jeffries’ original ‘Kustom Karrera’ set the template for a style of heavily modified 356, collectively named ‘Outlaw’ by Porsche guru Rod Emery. Like the gun-slinging wild west outlaws, these models were both revered and reviled in equal measure by enthusiasts and purists, respectively. Today, opinions are much better aligned: they are a brilliant take on Ferdinand’s original small, light sports car concept.
Purists should note that when it comes to this 356 Outlaw, no 356s were injured during its making. Constructed over two years to 2023, it is based on a shortened 1966 Volkswagen Beetle chassis with a quality Mark Roach 356 fibreglass body on top. The body has been carefully detailed to deliver the Outlaw look and finished with Porsche chromework, badging and Fuchs polished wheels. Underneath, there is a brand new Rawspeed 1904 engine with a very high specification, including twin Webers. We’re told that since completion, it has covered run-in mileage only.
That therefore means that the buyer gets to benefit from all that hard work. With 356 values in the stratosphere, here is a chance to acquire a well-detailed, high specification Outlaw that you won’t be afraid to use and enjoy.
The vendor says:
“A very exciting drive. Draws a lot of attention. great level of detail finish on the car. True outlaw stance. Built with a great deal of care and attention, no shortcuts.”
