The Appeal
A fascinating piece of history, this. The Castagna Vittoria was built as a one-off concept car in 1994, as a revival of the famous coachbuilders, Carrozzeria Castagna - who were an Italian byline for luxury, customised vehicles for over 100years. Indeed, so esteemed were this remarkable company that they assisted in building the wagons for the Orient Express, and produced one of the world’s first minivans with the Aerodinamica in 1913.
In 1994, Uberto Pietra revived the brand, with this simply exceptional car designed by architect, Gioacchino Acampora. The styling was just as distinctive and brave as the illustrious name would suggest - and while no further examples were built, it peppered the press and thousands of admiring glances. There simply hadn’t been a car like it.
With its fabulous green flocked interior and mixed angles, it was a striking piece of kit - a hand-hammered, aluminium-bodied, steel-framed beauty that exaggerated the form of Alfa Romeo’s SZ and took it to new heights. It kicked off a whole new life for Carrozzeria Castagna, and has been a living legend ever since. Magazine articles, museums, motor shows and more continue to fawn over this bonafide original, which remains the only Vittoria ever built.
If that’s not enough market pitch for you, it’s still loaded with a V6 Busso and specialist performance equipment to give the car its own unique character. It’s prepared for racing as it is for the road.
