The Appeal

Bentley, a name synonymous with sheer luxury and performance, and this GTC is the very epitome of what a Bently should be. Finished in stunning metallic black with magnolia leather interior, this 6-litre leviathan is a real beauty to behold.

It has been carefully maintained and has covered very little mileage while in the keep of the present owner, who has been fastidious in ensuring the car is kept in tip-top condition throughout and as a result, the car shows very little wear, if any.

The History and Paperwork

  • Full book of service stamps
  • File of invoices showing oil services and maintenance
  • Several previous MOT certificates
  • Original book pack and instruction booklet
  • Minimal mileage while with the current owner

Owning a Bentley comes with certain responsibilities, and the priority responsibility is to ensure the car is cared for as it should be. Now, that doesn’t just mean regular oil servicing and catering for that fabulous W12 motor, although that too is important. No, treating a Bentley with respect is high on the list, and there’s no doubt that this car has been cosseted.

It is beautifully polished, the seats hardly look sat on and there is no hint of it being smoked or vaped in. It has reassuringly low mileage and a copious amount of invoices showing recent expenditures. The owner has been plainly aware that the GTC is nothing less than a thoroughbred and has kept it in the manner in which it deserves.

The Interior

  • Magnolia leather interior
  • Clean headlining
  • Unsoiled carpeting
  • Unmarked boot floor

The inside of a Bentley is always going to be a delightful place to be and the GTC is certainly no exception. The seating is as luxurious as you’d expect and in this case, bears little evidence of use. The rear monogrammed seats look as if they have never been used and are as bright and clean as the day they were fitted.

The carpets are clean and without scuffs or staining. The only hint that there has been any use is a small dent in the driver’s sill plate. The dash is equally unmarked and the instruments are bright and clear with all displays working as they should. The luggage area is also free from any obvious wear and tear with only the merest signs of use.

The roof rises and falls smoothly and effortlessly as it should but does have a small repair to the rear quarter on the driver’s side.

The Exterior

  • Gleaming black metallic paint
  • Refurbished factory alloy wheels
  • Bright chromework
  • Soft close doors

The luxurious finish continues outside with a beautiful black metallic scheme. The glorious thing about the colour is that it changes hue depending on the light due to the reflective base colour. In the shade, it is the deepest of gloss blacks, but in the sunshine, there's a bronze tint that shows through.

There are so few imperfections to mention and it doesn’t reflect the age and mileage at all. The wheels are factory fitment with a set of matching Pirelli P-Zero tyres with plenty of tread. The wheels themselves have been refurbished very recently, but not particularly because of damage.

One wheel had been suffering from some lacquer discolouration so all four wheels were done to ensure they all matched. Headlamps are clear and free from any UV fogging and all other light clusters are clear and bright and in good order. The car hasn’t been raised to view the underside, but the images taken at ground level appear to indicate that the protective trays are intact and sound.

The Mechanics

  • 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12
  • Maintained with regular oil changes
  • Recent brake discs and pads replacement

Naturally, the heart and soul of this Bentley is the world-renowned 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine. It generates a very impressive 550 bhp via twin turbos, which is sent through a 6-speed automatic transmission to all 4 wheels. It is fair to say that despite its weight, the Bentley GTC is no slouch and if needed, or allowed, can top 200 mph.

With that sort of power on tap, it is good to know that the current owner has maintained the car with regular oil changes, even though the mileage has been minimal. The engine is extremely quiet, as you’d expect, but does become quite vocal when revved. The engine bay is full to bursting with the large W12 lump, but in the small spaces that are left there are no traces of any leaking of oils or coolant and the underneath is dry.

It has also benefitted from a new set of brake discs and pads all round which is good to know there’s something there to stop that 550 bhp. The transmission shifted effortlessly during the photo session without any nasty clunks and all the controls are light and precise, and I wouldn’t have expected anything less.

Summary

What can possibly be said about this delightful car except to express that it appears to be a very good one? Some of these machines fall foul of owners that can afford to buy one, but then can’t care for them. Others also fall into the category of being misused and to some degree abused.

Thankfully, not this one as it had been purchased by a man who promised himself this car and has been determined to look after it ever since, and my word it shows. If you too are in the market for some seriously quick but luxurious motoring in a quality machine? Look no further.
