How could you replace the Superlative E Type and please the buyer safety experts and move into the 1970s.
The XJ S had big shoes to fill and by the mid-1970s although the E Type was looking dated it was still a desirable icon.
So early on at its launch in 1975, the XJ S was not very well received with many disliking its shape especially the rear buttresses and more contemporary looks.
I have personal memories as my dad receiving his new white V12 in 1975 and I can remember it looking great but very poorly built with lots of mechanical defects from day one!
However, over the years Jaguar managed to develop the car to become a much more appealing grand touring machine and the later Facelift model was a much improved and economical version of the original car with superior build quality and reliability
This is a stunning 4-litre example finished in Kingfisher blue with Oatmeal leather interior supplied in the Uk and owned by the last owner for nearly 10 years
She’s in exceptional condition with a great service history having been well maintained as necessary with suspension rebuild 3 years ago, new headlining , air con conversion to r134 etc
On the road, the 4 litre provides plenty of performance and is much more economical than the V12 models whilst still offering typically high standards of refinement
Supplied fully inspected, serviced with 12 months warranty.
