1950 Ford Prefect E493A 1172cc. Factory Ford Navy Blue with Tan leather upholstery. The Prefect was the Anglia's bigger brother; introduced in 1939 as a replacement for the aged 10hp model, it had the same overall dimensions as the Anglia but used a wheelbase four inches longer to accommodate the two rear doors. The Prefect also used a larger and more powerful engine to cope with the extra bodywork as well as the intended passengers. Production continued after the War's interruption, and a makeover followed in 1948 for both models. Like its smaller sibling, the changes made to the Prefect were aesthetic rather than mechanical, the main difference being the incorporation of the headlights into the new car's wings set off by a new grill between them. Production continued until 1953's shake-up, with over 192, 000 E493As being produced in these five years. This Prefect is a good solid example of the model, the cars paintwork is still in good condition while the tan interior is also original and also in good overall condition. Originally registered on 14th of October 1950 the car is still very original with just the addition of some modern indicators for safety reasons. Running and driving well this Prefect is now MOT and tax exempt so is a very affordable way of enjoying classic motoring. Absolutely any inspection is welcome.
