The Appeal

For lucky owners, the Triumph Stag tends to be one of those cars that gets under the skin. Whether that’s down to the burbly V8, the spacious four-seat cabin, the practical handling or those crisp Michelotti lines, these are cars that reward use.

The current keeper of this tidy Mk1 Stag proves the point. He has owned it since 2004, using it regularly, including European trips, most recently to Austria in 2023. It is a smart and generally well-kept car that retains its 3L Triumph engine fitted to a desirable 4spd manual overdrive gearbox. It is supplied with hard and soft tops and a windbreak.

The vendor has maintained the car himself, with assistance from specialists as needed. He tells us that work has included a full engine rebuild in the past. More recent work includes new propshaft, driveshaft and rear hub bearings. It is a sign of the seller’s approach to maintenance that it comes with a current, advisory-free MOT, despite this no longer being a legal requirement.
