Here we have an excellent just restored and extremely desirable Austin Healey 1959 3000 MkI Two-Seater - the very same model which went on to achieve much competition success for BMC in rallying. These two-seater models are both lighter and stiffer than later models hence their use for motorsports, plus have absolutely sensational and uninterrupted flowing lines without the rear cockpit.
Externally this gorgeous Healey is newly finished in Healey Blue Metallic with Ivory Duotone, is fitted with new Chrome 72-spoke wire wheels featuring Michelin tyres and wet weather gear is provided by a Navy Everflex hood and new aluminium sidescreens, all in perfect condition. Body fit is good, original chrome is retained and refinished and a good level of attention to detail has been provided throughout. Prior to restoration this Healey was in good original condition meaning the car has never declined into a state where panels and structure have become non-salvageable. Restoration was comprehensive and body off, with the tub stone-chipped for further protection. It remains as new underneath as can be seen in the gallery photos.
Inside this two-seat MkI shows very nicely thanks to all new upholstery in Navy including Navy seating with Ivory White piping neatly complementing the Duotone paint scheme. Carpet is Navy with Navy bound edges. Instrumentation is all original Smiths correct and believed original to the car.
Specification of this Healey remains exactly as the when the car was dispatched from Austin’s Abingdon factory in January 1959 with the engine rebuilt to original specification. The car was originally specified with overdrive, wire wheels, a heater, an adjustable steering column and laminated windscreen all of which remain correct today.
In conclusion this Austin Healey 3000 MkI BN7 is wonderful newly restored car completed in 2022 with only delivery mileage and test mileage – by us - ready for a new Healey fan to use, enjoy and show with pride immediately.
