1926 Renault KZ1 « Tout Temps

Pre-bids

Highlights

  • Right-hand drive example
  • Matching numbers confirmed
  • Interior fully redone, from the seats to the door panels, through to the headlining and roof covering
  • Numerous historic documents, particularly interesting for a car of this age

The appeal

As the name suggests, the Renault KZ1 “Tout Temps” stood out for its removable glazed frames, designed to slot into the doors and close up the cabin. This arrangement turned the open bodywork into a space sheltered from the elements. In its day, the KZ1 Tout Temps sat at the upper end of the marque’s range, with features including a Westinghouse servo-assisted braking system, a neatly finished dashboard, a luggage boot and generous rear space. All of which contributed to its upmarket character.

Now a centenarian, this right-hand drive example wears black and white bodywork over a black interior. The interior trim has been extensively redone and the car retains all four of its door glazed frames. The dashboard is described as very comprehensive and fully functional. The sale includes numerous historic documents dating back to the car’s first registration.

Prospective buyers should, however, factor in significant mechanical work. While the cylinder head, head gasket, eight valves and braking system have been refurbished, the big-end bearings were damaged on 19 October 2026 and require attention. The front left wing is also damaged.

This Renault is therefore primarily aimed at an enthusiast ready to undertake a mechanical rebuild. The reward: a rare pre-war French car, equipped with unusual features and accompanied by a valuable archive of documents.
