The Appeal

The BSA B31/2 is a delightful example of early 1930s British lightweight motorcycling. With its 250cc single-cylinder twin-port engine, hand-change three-speed gearbox, lever throttle, and manual advance, it offers an utterly authentic pre-war riding experience that few machines of this era can still deliver.

This particular example, registered in 1932, appears to have been restored not long before the current owner acquired it approximately four years ago. Since then, it has been stored in a comfortable environment and exercised every four months, started, ridden for a few miles, then drained and returned to display. The chrome, paintwork, and tyres are all said to present well, and mechanically it is reported to start readily and ride as one would hope from a machine of this vintage. The vendor tells us it always draws a crowd, and whether destined for a collection or gentle road use, this pre-war BSA represents a charming opportunity.
