The Appeal
From the great Art Deco-style sweep of its coupe roof to the long, long hood with its Le Mans-derived XK powerplant, Jaguar's XK120 FHC really is something quite special. Just 2,485 were built in LHD, and this 1953 example was amongst the last produced.
It looks fantastic, an impression helped by the well-kept bright red paintwork and shining chrome wires. The condition is impressive inside and out, with just a few light areas to note in photos, such as some tarnish to the chrome and age to the trim.
The current keeper acquired the car at Retro Classics Essen in 2022, and has since invested over €14,000 in its upkeep, including a comprehensive brake restoration in 2025 and annual mechanical inspections. A 2022 appraisal described it as a "good vehicle with no pending repairs." The vendor reports that the car presents well both inside and out, showing only typical signs of use consistent with its age.
The vendor says:
"It is fun to drive, though tough, because no brake and steering servo. It's the real way of driving a car!"
