The Appeal
The Austin-Healey 3000 MkIIA (BJ7) is often considered the ‘sweet spot’ of the Big Healey range, blending the classic aesthetic of early models with significant modern refinements. It was the first ‘true’ convertible in the series, replacing removable side curtains with wind-up glass windows and a quick-action ‘pram-style’ folding roof. The BJ7 is widely regarded as one of the most usable and desirable variants in the 3000 lineage, and well-preserved examples are increasingly sought after.
This unmodified 1963 car benefits from a restoration carried out in 2001, after which it has been dry-stored in an air chamber. Having been in the current owner's care for almost 10 years, it is now offered for sale due to health reasons. For those seeking a well-kept, honest Austin-Healey 3000 with an extensive restoration file, this example warrants close attention.
