The Appeal
The Mini is one of the most revered little city cars in history - but how do you take it to the track? John Cooper works knew of Issigonis's love of the rally and, after some work, managed to convinced him to enter performance territory with an eager, nimble 1275cc - the Mini Cooper S. It swiftly became a real giant killer in motorsport, most famously winning the '64 Monte Carlo Rally with Paddy Hopkirk.
Of course, this fine example is built to emulate exactly that competition-winning colour scheme and spec, which has been a real labour of love. The car's spec is impressive, with a Downtown tuned/prepared 1275 cc engine, twin set of TAG Heuer Trackmate stopwatches, a spot light on the roof and more.
This 1965 example is reported by the vendor to be a genuine Mk1 Morris Cooper S. It has been in the current owner's care for approximately five years, during which time it has benefited from considerable mechanical and cosmetic attention. It's a very impressive little competition machine that's bound to impress its lucky new keeper. image.png1.53 MB
