The Appeal
The legendary Pony Car carries a unique mythos that's all-American at its core. Brash performance, bold lines and a determined cabin; they were machines built for out-and-out muscle, and are so well-reputed that they're equally familiar with the layman. Mustangs are also pleasingly easy to identify, thanks to Detroit's simple VIN codes. This, for instance, is the much-praised K-Code Mustang.
These high-performance models left the factory with the 271 bhp 289 cubic-inch V8 and were produced in comparatively small numbers in the Mustang's first annum, with only 157 K-code cars leaving the Metuchen plant in 1966. Paired here with a four-speed manual gearbox, this HiPo Coupe represents the Mustang in its most driver-focused guise.
This example was sourced from Arizona in November 2020 and has since been registered on UK plates. Its authenticity as a true K Code GT has been verified by Roy Holmes of The Mustang Workshop, a respected marque specialist who has also carried out considerable work on the car. The restoration saw numerous parts replaced and renewed, with supporting paperwork accompanying the sourced body parts.
The vendor tells us that the car handles beautifully, pulls strongly in every gear and sounds fantastic. image.png1.63 MB
