The Appeal

Early 911s like this embody Porsche’s iconic silhouette in its purest form. These are magnificent cars, and this white example is particularly pleasing to behold, thanks to the quality of its recent restoration. The Fuchs wheels are the quintessential choice for this model, while the discreet black interior suits these conservative, no-frills sports cars perfectly.

The Mechanics

  • Air-cooled flat-six engine
  • Four-speed manual gearbox
  • Engine removed during restoration and brought up to spec
  • Exhaust valves adjusted
  • Engine and gearbox oil changed with filter
  • New Bluetooth 123 ignition electronic ignition system
  • New high-performance ignition coil
  • Carburetor fully rebuilt
  • New brake discs
  • New shock absorbers
  • Complete stainless steel exhaust system
  • New oil tank and oil pan
Mechanically, this 911 remains largely period-correct, but not exactly as it left the factory. The engine has been replaced with an identical unit, while the gearbox has been changed from the rare but underappreciated semi-automatic Sportomatic system to a four-speed manual focused on the driver. A Bluetooth 123 Ignition electronic ignition system has been added for smoother, more reliable operation, and a stainless steel exhaust system has been fitted. The seller notes that the Porsche starts and accelerates normally, stops well, shifts through gears correctly, and offers excellent handling. A truly brilliant car to drive.
