The Appeal
1968 saw Jaguar introduce some gentle improvements to what was already one of the world's most beloved sports cars. With improved cooling, revised lighting, and factory-fitted power-assisted steering complementing the legendary 4.2-litre inline-six, the Series 2 offered a more usable grand tourer without sacrificing the character that made the E-Type an icon.
This 1969 example is notable for its provenance and originality. It has had just three registered keepers from new, with the current owner acquiring it in 1996 from an enthusiast who had kept it for the preceding two decades. That previous keeper, a knowledgeable car man who also collected Model T Fords, had purchased it from the original owner when the car was just three years old.
The vendor describes the car as essentially original throughout, with the interior presenting well and the mechanicals reported to be in good order. It has been serviced approximately annually, and a preservation-first approach has been taken throughout. Plenty of cash has been invested over the past decade, resulting in, we're told, a truly sweet-running classic. image.png1.91 MB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
