Highlights
- Highly original car in attractive Lavender Blue
- Substantial history file documenting the car's life
- Sparingly used in recent years and dry stored
- Increasingly desirable 2+2 Series 3 with manual box
The Appeal
The Series III finally turned the E-Type into the GT it was always aiming to be. These later cars are popular with enthusiasts who enjoy using rather than merely admiring their classics because the 2+2 body style makes headroom plus access and egress far easier. Plus, of course, they have that superlative V12 engine…
These later cars got some fetching 70s colourways, of which the Lavender Blue of this car is one of the prettiest. The vendor tells us that he acquired it 14 years ago and has used it sparingly, carefully dry-storing it between uses. The MOT records support this. The result is a very well-preserved and highly original car in great condition. It retains neat factory details like the fluted exhaust tail pipe and the steel wheels with chrome embellishers that arguably suit the car so well.
The history file is impressive. It includes invoices dating back to the car’s early life in the 1970s, plus MOTs to support the low displayed mileage. There is also a JDHT certificate. All in, this is a tidy, very usable example of the Series III with a final extra plus - a manual box.
The vendor says:
“This 1973 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 manual is a lovely example that has been carefully stored in a garage and properly maintained. It’s a classic British GT that’s genuinely enjoyable to drive, with the manual gearbox making it feel engaging and characterful on the road. With its elegant lines, practical 2+2 layout and extensive history file documenting the car over the years, it’s a well-looked-after, usable classic that’s ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.”
