The Appeal
Among the myriad wonderful things about classic Land Rovers is that there are many recognised upgrades to enhance their usability, longevity and performance. We're pleased to report that this handsome little Series III 88" truck cab has benefitted from several of these well-regarded enhancements, with the fitting of a new galvanised chassis and 2.5-litre 200 TDi engine among them.
The vendor describes this car as a 'restomod', having been subjected to an extensive restoration in 2017. A new galvanised chassis and new steel bulkhead were fitted, while original panels and components were retained and reused wherever possible, preserving the character and authenticity of the vehicle. The hand-painted finish has since developed a natural patina, giving it the honest, well-loved appearance that many enthusiasts prefer over a highly polished show car.
During the current owner's approximately three-year tenure, the original engine developed issues. After two unsuccessful attempts at repair, a 2.5 200Tdi engine was installed by Heritage 4x4 Land Rover specialists, providing a more practical and reliable powerplant. Further mechanical work has since been carried out, and a large file of invoices accompanies the vehicle, documenting both the restoration and subsequent work.image.png4.08 MB
