The Appeal

For deep-pocketed fans of classic British luxury cars who were mildly appalled by Rolls-Royce’s 1970s drift towards debauched rock star buyers and TV celebrity endorsement, there was the Bentley T1 and T2. Altogether less ‘showy,’ it is a sign of how those times were that these tasteful, mechanically identical cars sold in surprisingly tiny numbers. Just 344 of the 558 T2s sold, a mere 1.4% of Silver Shadow production, found UK RHD buyers.

Today these handsome cars are a very discerning choice. The vendor is only the seventh keeper of this 48-year-old car, having acquired it in early 2024. He tells us that a previous keeper, Major J S Crisp, changed the colour in the 1980s from factory Nutmeg Brown to dark green, perhaps to reflect his military preoccupations. Despite the age of that work, the car presents extremely well, with only a few cosmetic points to note that are easy to live with. It’s a testament to its condition that this car was chosen to be the cover star of the Club’s Spirit & Speed magazine in March 2020.

With a useful voluntary MOT valid until January 2027, this T2 is ready to be used and enjoyed.
