The Appeal
The final version of the Spitfire is, to many minds, the most usable. These cars got more power, improved torque, and a revised rear suspension, making them better to drive, and the cabins got more comfortable, too.
Before arriving in the UK in 1984, this car was first registered in Ireland, hence the ‘dateless’ plate. It’s a really tidy Carmen Red example that comes with a rare matching hard top and well-kept black interior with red piping and carpets to suit the paint.
The 5-inch-thick history file is a testament to the care of its keepers. Alongside invoices, there is a two-page handwritten list of work from 2016 to 2023. Earlier highlights include a new chassis in 1998. Prior to sale, the car has received work to the brakes, resulting in a clean pass to the long voluntary MOT.
We know how beloved the Spitfire remains, and this one is particularly tidy and well-maintained.
The vendor says:
“Have really enjoyed this car for last 3 years, know as 'Roey' from the unusual number plate ROI 2565 I only managed less than 1000 miles in my ownership so I have not needed to or carried out any major works since I have had her, just regular servicing, brakes, engine, suspension, and general maintenance as we went along and required, invoices included in file. Super good-looking car in a really classy colour that turns heads every time she goes out.”
