- Matching numbers confirmed by the seller
The Appeal
The Honda XLV 750R was the fruit of the adventure bike boom in the 1980s, born from the excitement surrounding the early Paris-Dakar rallies. Its 750 cc V-twin engine offered a smoother, more torquey alternative to the noisy single-cylinders that dominated the category, while its lower seat height made it accessible to a wider range of riders.
This 1982 example presents original, unrestored condition with what the seller describes as a magnificent and faithful period patina. Previously in the hands of a Honda collector who kept it dry and sheltered, it retains its original bodywork, paint and seat, the latter reported as undamaged. The motorcycle does not currently start and will require a full recommissioning before returning to the road, including an oil change, carburetor clean, replacement of the rear-light indicator and a new battery.
Prospective buyers should note that the V5C/registration document has been lost, although an online check confirmed the bike is correctly registered with the prefecture and the serial numbers are compliant. The new owner will need to apply for a replacement registration document.
What a superb bike to rekindle 80s Dakar vibes!
