The Appeal
There’s a long-running joke that Porsche 911s are all the same. This couldn’t be further from the truth, but the fact that there is some consistency across generations means that sublime creations like this car can exist. What began life as a 1983 G-body Carrera 3.2 Coupé has undergone a transformation to become what, to all intents and purposes, looks to be a pre-1968 short-wheelbase 911. Under the skin, it still benefits from 1980s G-series LWB body and running gear, so it promises to be a very exciting drive.
Acquired in 2013, the car has been meticulously developed over the years, culminating in a comprehensive strip-down and backdating process between 2018 and 2020. The transformation included a complete repaint in a special 1950s Porsche racing silver matte finish, complete interior restoration whilst retaining the original Carrera G-Series seats, and extensive mechanical refurbishment, including an engine rebuild in 2019. The engine has covered 30,000 km since restoration. The car retains its original LWB chassis.
The vendor reports that the car started life as a rust-free base, providing the ideal foundation for this ambitious project. Recent work includes repainting of the rear fenders and front bonnet, plus restoration of the injectors in 2025, ensuring the car is ready for immediate enjoyment. The vendor reports well-balanced handling and states that everything is in working order, offering a thoughtfully executed conversion that captures the essence of early 911 motoring with far more modern drivability.
The vendor says:
"We have purchased this Porsche 911 in the summer of 2013 in a very good, rust-free condition. The initial motivation of the purchase was to backdate the vehicle to an early 911. After a long research, which workshop might be the right one to do such a demanding undertaking, we then decided to go with a small, but highly specialised company just outside Stuttgart, which had a very good recommendation. We then had the car completely stripped down to its absolute base in 2018. In the following year, always in constant dialogue with the workshop, we changed the Porsche step-by-step into something absolutely unique - a 3.2 liter Carrera in the shape of an early pre-68 911.

Original Carrera G-Series seats retained and renovated
The vendor says:
"The overall condition is like nearly new - very minor and absolutely slight signs of use. All the exterior works have been professionally done in metal - no plastic at all. We had the rear Carrera-shaped side panels cut out and replaced with earlier panels, which were then narrowed individually to the shape of a pre-1968 early 911. All hays have been changed according to the form of an early 911 rear and back-end bumpers, the front hood, the engine lid, etc. We’ve given the 911 a paint job with a very rare, but original, Porsche recipe from the late 50s/early 60s. The Porsche stands on original Porsche-Lemmerz steel rims.
"We’ve had the full interior stripped out, removed the old floor-sound-dimming-cover, replaced it with new plating, then stripped all plastic G-model parts and replaced them with handmade metal covers. We replaced the dash with a more reduced F-Model dash. We replaced the G-model door panels with more reduced ones, inspired by the 911-R-Model style. We had the electric window-openers stripped out and replaced them with new mechanical F-model window shifters. We had the heating changed into F-Model heating (also reducing the relevant parts in the engine compartment). We added an additional fan to increase the heating capacity. New heating components were installed under the car in 2025. We’ve removed the interval-wiper-wheel from its position in the dash and repositioned it. We replaced the G-model plastic indicators with the original pre-68-F-Model indicators. We replaced the black plastic rear mirror with a pre-68 chromed mirror. The G-Model steering wheel has been removed. It was replaced with a renovated original wooden Porsche steering wheel from the '60s, with the original horn button, etc. We’ve learned that only one person remains capable of restoring these old steering wheels professionally. Also, the Porsche museum in Stuttgart is cooperating with its workshop. We’ve also had the original Recaro black leather seats renovated in 2025 - we think they are absolutely gorgeous, even on long highway sessions. We have had the shift-linkage polished and spent the Porsche a new, black carpet on the floor - all done in 2025."
"This Porsche has been overhauled in every thinkable compartment. Also, the engine has been restored, the fan-wheel has been painted red. The six intake manifolds had been polished and covered with a clear protective cover. All worn parts (there were not many, indicating the car’s high build quality) have been redone."
