The Appeal
The Yamaha RZV500R represents the high point of 1980s two-stroke road bike engineering. Developed as a road-going replica of the YZR500 Grand Prix machine, which itself was inspired by the bike ridden by Kenny "King" Roberts in the 1983 World Championship, this Japanese-market version features the aluminium frame, setting it apart from the steel-framed models sold in the UK and Europe.
This particular example is described by the vendor as being in very good original condition, having clearly been well cared for. Significant recent expenditure has brought it to a ready-to-ride standard, with a specialist service, new tyres, and mechanical checks all carried out. The engine, which appears to have been rebuilt at some point in the past, has been internally inspected via borescope, with the vendor confirming everything is in order.
Imported into the UK in 2008, this handsome bike was won by the vendor via the Classic Competition Company in March 2026, but they've ultimately opted to pass it on to pastures new.
