The Appeal
The T180 sixth-generation Celica didn’t really need Carlos Sainz to reach for greatness, but his gravel-scrabbling antics certainly helped. Because, as this GTi-16 will prove to its lucky buyer, these are beautifully balanced, highly engaging, free-revving sports cars with few rivals amongst their 80s and 90s peers.
This 1993 car, classically finished in red, has been in the same family from new, passing to the current keeper in early 2025. It is original, unmodified condition and is said to run and drive well. The spec includes that 2L 3S-GE engine and a 5spd manual box.
The thick history file attests to the care of its handful of keepers. There is a lot of recent work, including cambelt and service in 2025 and new rear discs, pads and calipers in 2025. Other work includes welding repairs in 2024 and replacement rocket covers. The current MOT runs to September 2026.
This Celica is a prime example of the sort of 90s classic that is coming to market - highly usable, very reliable and good enough to work as a daily or a weekend show car.
The vendor says:
“This car has been a dream to drive, it is responsive and smooth when treated well.”
