The Appeal
It’s no real stretch to suggest that without the Turbo R there would be no modern-day Bentley. This is the car that saved the firm, largely thanks to the ‘R for Roadholding’ package spearheaded by Mike Dunn, the firm’s engineering director, who experienced an epiphany when his Mulsanne Turbo couldn’t keep up with a Ford Escort on twisty roads.
The R was a revelation, wowing reviewers and boosting sales. It was continuously evolved with this car’s 1994 model year being a particular sweet spot. That’s the year when Bentley equipped the car with electronic boost control, shift energy management and adaptive shift control.
This right-hand drive example wears the sought-after combination of Peacock Blue with Magnolia leather piped in dark blue — a pairing that is well regarded among Turbo R colour options. With total right-hand drive production standing at just 2,175, examples in this specification are increasingly difficult to find. The car comes with a history file and currently holds an advisory-free MOT. It has had just four former registered keepers since first being registered in June 1994 and comes to market with advisory-free MOT to December 2026.
