The Appeal
If you’re going to build a special edition of your revered road-to-rally car and you’re naming it after one of the greatest gravel drivers of all time, you’d best get it right. That’s exactly, of course, what Mitsubishi’s engineers did with the ‘TME.’
A quicker spooling turbo, stiffer suspension, tougher drivetrain and quicker steering rack all sharpened the driving experience while Enkei wheels, bespoke front bumper and Recaro front seats visually set the Tommi Makinen Edition apart from lesser Evos.
This 2000 TME spent its life on the salt-free roads of Japan to 2021 when it arrived in the UK and was acquired by the current keeper. That likely explains the remarkable condition, particularly the underside, which you can see in the photos. It has been in storage until recently, which explains the low mileage of 77,000 miles. We’re told that since leaving storage it has been recommissioned. The MOT to October 2026 with no advisories underlines the condition.
Here is a chance to acquire a well preserved and largely factory-standard example of one of the best saloon cars of the last 30 years.
The vendor says:
“The drive is direct and sharp, nothing loose or any vibrations at all. Tracking has been checked, twice. The boost builds smoothly gradually through the revs and provides strong torque from 3k revs. Car always starts first time and idles smooth thanks to the restoration of the fuel system, essential for these cars to be done now they are 25 years old. The underside has not been sealed or waxed, the next owner has the opportunity to chose keeping as is or having protected to enjoy this very special drivers car.”
