The Appeal
We doubt you need us to tell you just how good the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition is. This car is road and rally royalty, a modern classic the day the first one rolled off the line.
With that out the way, we can focus on what makes this particular car so special. First off, it is the ‘Special Color Pack’ model with the distinctive TME graphics. Just 212 were officially built, so it is rare. Then there’s the fact that it was used by Mitsubishi in 2000 to launch the TME edition before being bought by the only registered keeper.
He kept it as part of his collection until 2022, when the current keeper acquired it. The result of their care is an exceptionally low-mileage car that is so original that it still wears its factory tires. It is also fitted with its factory exhaust and is said to be 100% standard.
Despite the minuscule mileage of purportedly just 10,180kms from new, (letter in the file from the vendor confirming) . The service book shows at 10,123km it was serviced by Mitsubishi. At this time they changed the timing belt, water pump and auxiliary belts.
Check the photos and you’ll see that this is about as close to a factory-fresh TME SCP as it seems possible to get. Dial in that blue-chip provenance, and you have the collector’s Evo to surely trump all collector Evos. Tommi has even signed the roof…

Just 209 Special Color Pack cars were assembled by the factory, and, really, this is the version of the TME that you really want. Because those decals are what firmly set this fabulous car apart from its lesser cousins, this car goes one step further by having its roof signed by Tommi himself.
As you would expect of a car owned by a WRC driver for much of its life, it has been treated carefully and stored well. The paintwork and interior are highly original. This car looks as if it rolled out of the factory yesterday. The white RalliArt alloys are ‘as new’ and shod with factory-fitted OEM rubber. Inside, the special TME-stitched black and red seats look barely used, and the Momo wheel has no sheen of use.
The Mechanics
- 2.0-liter turbocharged engine
- 5spd manual transmission
- Active Yaw Control
- Permanent four-wheel-drive
- Original Brembo brake calipers
- Engine runs correctly according to the vendor
- Has never been modified and remains factory standard
- Complete original exhaust system still fitted
- Recent timing belt, water pump and belt service at 10,123 km
- Maintained at official Mitsubishi service centers throughout its life
You have to admire this car’s keepers on how they managed to resist the temptation to add miles to this car, we’ll perhaps never know. But let's be glad they did, because opportunities to acquire TME RS2 with 10,000 kms from new do not come along often. This is the sort of car that is unlikely to be repeated.
Often, sparingly used cars suffer from a lack of maintenance. Not here. Both keepers have kept the car properly maintained. At 10,123kms it went to one of the company’s official service centres for a service, timing belt, water pump and auxiliary belts.
The vendor tells us that the car runs extremely well and remains entirely factory standard.
