The Appeal
If you know the Clio V6, then chances are you know Mark Fish. He prepared and raced these cars in the V6 Trophy and is the go-to guru for owners of the road-going models.
That’s important because this car is owned by his son and is one of the last cars that Mark worked on before his retirement. It is a very low-mileage 2002 Phase 1 car that was in storage for several years before the vendor acquired it in 2023.
The recommissioning work was completed in 2025 and included over £6,000 of work. The cambelt was replaced, brakes overhauled, alloys refurbished, tyres replaced, and the car fully serviced. Naturally, the current, lengthy MOT carries no advisories.
Here is a chance to acquire a factory-standard, well-sorted Phase 1 that has been extensively and recently worked on by a model expert.
The vendor says:
“A great example of what is now a very rare car. Unfortunately, a house purchase and a need for furniture force the sale.”

- Factory handbooks and wallet
- Trackstar video
- 2 keys
The vendor says:
“When I bought the car, it had already been in storage for a number of years. My father (Mark Fish) ran a motorsport and motor service business for many decades, specialising in Renaults. He ran V6 Trophy cars in Europe in 2003. In 2023, I agreed to purchase a customer's ph1 v6 that was in storage. As we were both busy, the car continued to sit in storage until 2024, when Mark found time to recommission the car for me. It could be the last v6's he works on before fully retiring! Mark knows everything there is to know about these cars, so it's been great to have a true expert go over the whole car.”
The Condition
- Factory standard car in silver metallic with well-kept paintwork
- Vendor reports some stone chips to the front commensurate with age and mileage
- Bodywork in good order with straight panelwork as shown in photos
- Recently refurbished 17in factory alloys in good condition
- Recently fitted Michelin tyres with few miles completed since fitment
- Underside as shown with no structural advisories on MOT
- Factory standard leather and suede interior in good order
- Some minor wear to the seats as shown
- Steering wheel recently professionally recovered in leather
- Retains original features such as the Renault stereo
- The vendor notes the car would benefit from professional detailing
The vendor says:
“The car is in great condition apart from some stone chips to the front that you would expect from a car of this age and mileage. If I were to keep the car, I would have the whole car detailed by a professional because I've not found the time to get this done since the recommissioning.
“The interior is in near immaculate condition with some minor wear to the seats. At some point, the steering wheel has been recovered in leather as these deteriorate.”
The Mechanics
- 2,946cc 227bhp E39 V6 engine
- 6-speed manual transmission
- Extensively recommissioned by Mark Fish in 2024/25
- Full service in 2025, including all fluids, belts, water pump, spark plugs and 6 coil packs
- Brake system completely overhauled with new discs, pads and hoses
- A/c system overhauled, including new condenser and repairs to all pipe connections
- Further work required to a/c system as detailed below
- No advisories on current MOT
The vendor says:
In 2024, when the car was recommissioned, it had a full major service, including all fluids, all belts, water pump, spark plugs, and 6 new coil packs. The brakes have new discs, pads and hoses. The wheels have been refurbished and have 4 new Michelin tyres. There is an invoice totalling £6k+ for all this work. A lot of time was spent on the air conditioning system, which is known to corrode and leak. A new condenser was fitted, and all the pipe connections front to rear were repaired and resealed. These parts are no longer available! The system holds pressure but does not yet get cold. This has been diagnosed as either a faulty valve (supplied but not yet fitted), or worse case, the compressor needs replacing.”
