The Appeal

When Chevrolet revived the Camaro for 2010, it returned one of America’s great muscle-car names to production after an eight-year absence. At the top of the regular range sat the SS, fitted with GM’s naturally aspirated 6.2-litre LS3 V8 producing 426hp and driving the rear wheels through a 6spd manual box and limited-slip differential.

The concept Camaro’s starring role as Bumblebee in the Transformers films turned the forthcoming fifth-generation Camaro into something of a cultural phenomenon. Rally Yellow, black stripes and the aggressive new Camaro shape became instantly recognisable. That connection was also what drew the current owner to this generation. A collector of predominantly American cars, he had wanted a fifth-generation Camaro from the moment he first saw Bumblebee on screen. When he eventually decided to add one to the collection, the search became very specific: Rally Yellow with black stripes, top 2SS specification, RS Package, LS3 V8, manual gearbox and, ideally, delivery mileage.

After a year of searching he found this car in New York when lengthy discussions with the owner began to acquire it. Built at Oshawa on 5 May 2009, it had been sold new through DePaula Chevrolet in Albany, New York and remained with its one recorded private US owner for almost fourteen years, who had barely driven it, as detailed below.

Its Rally Yellow, black-striped specification and Transformers detailing naturally provides the Bumblebee appearance that originally attracted the current owner to the model. A set of Transformers sill plates remains unfitted and accompanies the car.

What distinguishes this Camaro is ultimately something rather more substantial: an unusually highly specified early 2SS/RS manual with exceptionally low and remarkably well-documented mileage.

The car features $6,350 of factory options plus an array of upgrades. The specification includes WRS RS Package, HID halo headlamps, RS equipment and rare $4,680 dealer-installed GM VZN staggered 21-inch wheel and tyre package. A spare set of wheels is included with both sets fitted with new Pirelli P Zero tyres costing €2,000. Other upgrades include Roto-Fab cold-air intake and CORSA Performance 3-inch Sport cat-back exhaust with quad polished tips and genuine GM ZL1-style diffuser.

A very tidy and clearly cherished example of these much-admired muscle cars.

History provided by seller:

“The original New York title recorded just five miles. It had covered 205 miles by 2010, 233 miles in 2013, 237 miles in 2021, and only 241 miles when independently inspected before purchase in February 2023.

“Since arriving in Ireland, the Camaro has been used sparingly rather than simply preserved as a static exhibit. It recorded 2,728 miles at its first Irish NCT in March 2024 and 6,097km — approximately 3,789 miles — in August 2025.

“It has been dry-stored alongside the remainder of the owner’s collection when not in use.

“The original GM Vehicle Inquiry record remains with the car and confirms its build and specification against VIN 2G1FT1EW4A9107606.”

Export Note

The sale price is based on the car being exported from Ireland (there is an additional fee to pay for Irish buyers only - this additional fee does not apply to buyers in the UK, Europe and the rest of the world).

The seller will complete the required Irish VRT export inspection before collection. The car must then leave Ireland within 30 days, and the buyer will need to provide a copy of the new registration document once registered in its destination country.

“The car was subsequently purchased from Broadway Garage of Columbia County and shipped from New York to Dublin, with the title, purchase, payment, transport, shipping, customs and Irish registration records retained.

“This provides considerably more reassurance than simply relying upon the current odometer reading: the Camaro’s exceptionally low use can be followed through documentary records from new.”
