The Appeal
The original 997 brought back the classic design cues of the original, like the lights and dashboard, but the version you really want is this one - the ‘Gen II.’ With its new 3.8L engine, PDK gearbox, revised suspension, improved PCM and sharper looks, the later 997 offers a transformed driving experience.
Any 911 Turbo is a compelling prospect, but those Gen II changes make the 997.2 Turbo special. That new flat-six motor delivers 500bhp, while the lightning-quick PDK box maximises its potential. This 2010 Basalt Black car tastefully eschews the more shouty colour schemes in favour of a more understated and stylish ‘black on black’ specification, with polished five-spoke wheels and privacy glass. It is very highly specified, including optional Sport Chrono Plus, extended leather, adaptive sport seats and Alcantara headlining. The optional Guards Red seatbelts front and rear are a neat touch in the black leather cabin. It is also fitted with a Sharkwerks X Pipe exhaust and H&R 25mm lowering kit. The original parts are included.
The car has been very well maintained by main dealers and specialists. The last service was in November 2025 at 76,519 miles, which was less than 400 miles ago. Other notable recent work includes new front and rear coffin arms and bushes, new top mounts, replacement bearings and bump stops and new a/c condenser and the drive belts were renewed. The current MOT runs to late September 2026 with no advisories.
The Gen II 997 is that most desirable of cars - a sports car that is genuinely usable day to day. This highly maintained and well specified car has the provenance to really stand out.

The red-braced city slickers of the 80s favoured their 930 Turbos in stand-out Guards red. This car offers a visual wink to that era with its Guards Red seatbelts, but otherwise favours a much more subtle approach. The ‘black on black’ Basalt Black with all-black cabin suitably underplays the visual drama of the Turbo’s spoilers, splitters, side skirts and polished 19in five spokes. It looks particularly purposeful on its H&R 25mm lowered springs.
The factory specification includes some desirable tick box choices like rear wiper, extended leather, adaptive sports seats with memory and ParkAssist. The full list is provided above.
Inside and out it is clear that this car has been looked after by its keepers. The vendor describes it as ‘immaculate’ and, looking at the photos, it is hard to disagree.

The Gen II, launched in 2008, got a brand new 3.8L engine. Equipped with a pair of turbos it is good for 500bhp. The other important change was the arrival of the PDK 7spd dual clutch transmission. Widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best, gearbox of its type in the world, it is a lightening quick unit that essentially makes the manual gearbox redundant. It is so good that a PDK-equipped 911 is quicker than a manual one.
This car has both of those features, of course. It also has a range of options that we know enthusiasts will value. We can be thankful that the first keeper selected the Sport Chrono Plus package, which offers a wider range of driving modes, accessed via the optional PDK three-spoke wheel. The car also has dynamic engine mounts. Subsequent keepers have added a Sharkwerks X-Pipe exhaust and H&R lowering kit, that dials up the visual drama as well as the planted feel. The original factory parts remain with the car.
Alongside the compelling specification, this car has been extremely well maintained. For most of its life it has been entrusted to Porsche main dealers for alternative major and intermediate services in line with factory advice. The last manor service was in November 2025, around 400 miles ago, by blue chip specialist Unique. Other work includes attention to the suspension, belts and a/c condenser. The current MOT runs to September 2026 with no advisories. Porsche 911 Turbo - Supercarcopilot-089 Ian Bubb.jpg11.28 MB
