The Appeal
Reviving the Gordini name was an inspired bit of marketing by Renault, but this limited edition Clio really didn’t need a sales leg up. Based on the superlative RS200, with its clever Renault Sport ‘Perfohub’ that minimises torque steer, it is one of the best and most entertain hot hatches of the last 15 years.
Just 500 of the 2,000 Gordinis available worldwide were sold in the UK. These cars got a more luxurious spec than the standard RS200 and did away with the extremely firm Cup suspension set-up, in favour of something altogether more usable on a daily basis.
This 2011 Gordini’s Malta Blue paintwork and smart interior are in great condition, thanks to its tiny 13,200 miles from new. The vendor acquired it in 2016, on his birthday from the its first lady keeper. It currently shares garage space with an Mk4 XR3, an Elise and an Evora and is said to have been used lightly and sparingly. Despite that it has been serviced regularly by specialists, most recently in September 2025 when the cam belt and water pump were also replaced.
With lengthy, advisory-free MOT to May 2027, this extremely tidy, virtually factory-standard Gordini is ready to be thoroughly enjoyed.
The vendor says:
“Fabulous to drive. Just took her out for a 100-mile drive around the country lanes today, can't fault her. What I love the most about her is that she smells new, she is like a new car when I get in. I know I can easily buy a similar toy whenever I want, but normally, you either get a newish car like an MX-5 that smells and drives new, but it will depreciate, or something like an old Clio 182 that doesn't depreciate, but it feels like an old car. This one doesn't deprecate but also smell and feels like new. I am only selling as I am trying to slimming down my collection and I have lost a lock up garage. I currently have five weekend toys that I am trying to get down to 3 that doesn't duplicate as much. I have a Ferrari F430 manual spider, Lotus Elise S3 SC, Lotus Evora Sport Racer, Escort XR3i Mk4 and this Clio. Unfortunately this Clio and the Evora has to go as there are just too many toys.”
