The Appeal
The Mini Clubman was brought in as a modernisation of the legendary Mini formula. While it was predominantly recognised for designing that familiar front, it also carried a modernised interior and a larger boot, not to mention a much more accessible engine bay. In short, it offered a patch of extra practicality while maintaining the handling characteristics that made these cars motorsport heroes.
This particular 1970 example has been reimagined as a period-correct "gentleman racer" through a comprehensive restoration by Coventry Classic Minis. That includes a Vauxhull 1.6-litre 16v Twin Cam, with a rugged 5-speed gearbox and a host of parts that prepares the machine for just about any circuit on the clob.
