The appeal
The Alpine A110 is among the most celebrated French sports cars of the 1960s and 1970s. Its ultra-lightweight fibreglass construction, rear-engined layout and compact dimensions made it a formidable rally weapon. The 1300G variant, with its 1.3-litre four-cylinder twin-carburettor engine, sits at the heart of the A110 range and remains highly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors.
This 1966 example was fitted with Group 4 bodywork and Monte Carlo 1973 style decor finish, giving it a striking period competition look with its blue paint and period decals. It sits on orange 13-inch Gotti wheels with silver pinstripes and has front and rear tow hoops, reinforcing the rally-inspired aesthetic. Inside, the cabin has been updated with new bucket seats (the same type originally fitted to the model), safety harnesses and a Momo Prototipo steering wheel.
We understand the car was repainted in 2000. Routine maintenance is up to date, and a complete engine rebuild was carried out in 2018 on the replacement engine (1440cc fuel-injected Renault 5 Alpine) by the current owner. It has since been kept in a closed garage and regularly maintained for leisure use.
The vendor reports that the replacement engine, a 1440cc fuel-injected Renault 5 Alpine unit, has covered only 25,000 km. The gearbox has also been replaced (by DM, Alpine specialists), along with various replacement mechanical parts. The engine is \u201cethanol-equipped\u201d with an electronic injection unit. The engine has been fully rebuilt and features 301 camshafts, forged pistons, new liners, new connecting rods and the large-sump oil pump from the Super 5 Turbo. For those seeking an Alpine A110 with a competition-inspired look and a straightforward ownership history, this is a compelling proposition.
The odometer reads 24,171 km; the mileage is not considered reliable, as the odometer may have rolled over or the unit may have been replaced
Service history described as good by the vendor, who states that servicing has been carried out correctly and on time
