The appeal

The Morgan F4 was the brand’s first four-seater model, an elongated three-wheeler designed to broaden its appeal by offering a more family-friendly option. It proved a success, with around 1,400 units built over its 19-year production run.

Despite its family-oriented origins, this fascinating F4 took a completely different direction following a rebuild carried out in 1980 by Dick Buckland, the builder of the Buckland B3. He fully prepared the car for circuit racing in the UK, where it subsequently competed for twelve years at Oulton Park, Mallory Park and Cadwell Park.

The car retains its Buckland specification, which includes, in particular, a widened and lowered front axle, twin-piston front brakes, Rudge-type centre-hub wheels, an oil cooler, a second closed-circuit cooling radiator, a lightweight flywheel and electronic ignition. A kit comprising an intake manifold with two carburettors, as well as a second SU carburettor, is also supplied.

Unsurprisingly, this car is well known to Club members and its ownership history is particularly well documented.

The seller describes it as an extraordinary vehicle, which inspires confidence thanks to its excellent road holding. He also claims that it is fast and responsive thanks to its low weight and the widened geometry of its front axle.

In the hands of its current owner since 2022, the car has covered approximately 4,000 km on club outings, with no reported breakdowns. The aluminium bodywork was repainted in 2010 in its current ivory and red livery. The widened body comfortably accommodates two occupants.

With its confirmed, matching serial numbers and its French registration as a classic car, this Morgan offers the opportunity to become the next custodian of a 93-year-old car with a particularly rich history.
