The Appeal

The R52 didn’t mess with a winning formula. The aesthetics got a light-touch update but otherwise it was the same stylish go-kart we’d grown to love with the R50.

Particularly the supercharged Cooper S, which we have here. Considering what a hoot these cars are to drive, it is a surprise to find one as original, well maintained and sparingly used as this. It has been in the same family from new, bought in September 2006 with, we’re told, every available option. This included upgraded alloys and the clever 6spd auto box with sequential paddle shifts.

In the intervening 19 years it has covered less than 32,000 miles. As the photographs show, it has clearly been looked after, betraying few signs of age or use inside or out. It has been well maintained and arrives on the market with MOT to January 2026 with no advisories.

R52s are emerging modern classics. Good examples like this work equally well as weekend treats and daily drivers. This is one not to miss.
