Description
Citroen GSA Pallas – 33, 000miles and unrepeatable
The Citroen GS is a small family car manufactured and marketed from 1970 to 1986. The GS received a facelift in 1979 and was subsequently marketed as the GSA from 1979 to 1986. The GS was voted European Car of the Year for 1971 and was noted as technologically advanced, with class leading comfort, safety and aerodynamics.
Milestone Classics are always looking for the best we can find and this was simply one of those local cars we could not resist!
The Pallas was ordered new on 9th September 1983 by Mr Thomas Foster from City Garage Chichester at a total cost of £5, 620. 31 – an expensive car at the time. It was not Mr Foster’s first Citroen, he part-exchanged his GS Pallas for £700, and used the car for the next few years. When Mr Foster passed away his son could not part with the Citroen, decided to store the car.
In 2015 the owner of the storage facility, after long negotiations, finally purchased the Citroen and after a full service, brake check, cam belt, exhaust etc. at marque specialists Chevronic Centre Ltd the Pallas was returned to the road for the first time in twenty three years.
Today the Citroen is a remarkable survivor (even the ashtrays have never been used) that drives superbly and it is more comfortable than many modern cars. The history file contains original hand book, service book, invoices and MOT’s from 1987 and documents the mileage of just 33, 000 miles.
Never welded with no corrosion (the car was Ziebarted from new) and a Gaelic interior that would be more at home in a 1980’s spaceship this car is the perfect classic for someone looking for a something a little different, be it a long distant tourer or simply for trips down to the beach with a picnic basket and dog in the back.
We have had a lot of fun with this remarkable car and will be sorry to see her go.
