A smashing example of these pretty American sports cars, and quite the fastest and noisiest one we've ever had the opportunity to offer for sale
Restored 10 years ago in the States she has treated with care and only covered 2. 698 miles since and is almost new condition still - in fact this July she won an award for the Best 1960's Car on Show
It wasn't Chantilly, or Le Mans but a local show in Upper Richmond, nevertheless she won against some stiff competition
Obviously the specification helped pull her through and the photographic record in a bespoke folder, shows how impressive the attention to detail and upgrades afforded her marks her out from the crowd
American Racing, Salt Flat Special wheels (I still love the American names for these things) fitted with Pirelli Cinturato tyres - again no cost was spared to ensure she looks and drives equally surperbly
Other notable upgrades are new electronic GPS speedo and seperate rev counter - rev counter mounted next to binnacle and the speedo is housed where the original rev counter would have been
The engine has been replaced with a new "Crate" unit from Chevrolet, at 350cu in (5. 7 litres), giving excellent torque low down and also flying up the rev counter in any gear........
Clearly this is because she enjoys a mild camshaft, Edelbrock intake manifold, 4 barrell carburettor, Mallory ignition system and free flow (headers in the US) manifolds ensuring the engine breathes easily and makes the most intoxicating noise too
Cooling is from an immense alloy radiator, with similarly sized electric fan - London traffic, even in the recent heat wave shows she was showed no signs of distress
Upgraded suspension helps with coils to the front as well as discs brakes there too and the steering is now Rack and Pinion, electrically assisted (easy to adjust with a rheostat knob for the driver)
The chassis was powdered coated prior to the body being painted in gloss black, with the Scallop finished in Matt Grey
Only two other things of note - recently fitted air conditioning (seamlessly fitted with ice cold air) and a switch for the driver to move the exhaust from the rear pipes to the side pipes (both are noisy, the sides being the noisiest)
Fitted with a factory hard top - there is no soft top (we can fit one should you require)
Really, a super example, ready to drive to your local show to pick up a prize (as recently evidenced) or blast her down to the South of France - she's more than capable of both
More over, against a similarly restored 'E' Type of the same period, well, they'll be a lot of change in your pocket - "a real bang for your buck" as they say in the US
