The "Holy Grail" of Restoration Projects.

1969 Morris Mini Cooper S - MK2 - 1275cc - Restoration Project

It is with a heavy heart that I am bringing to market what I would say is the "Holy Grail" or restoration projects.

I have owned this Matching Numbers Mini Cooper S Restoration for 7 years and have uttered the words NOT FOR SALE so many times that I can’t remember !

Anyway with the planned expansion of our Servicing Facilities I need to create some space so reluctantly I have decide to sell off some of the Cars / Projects that I have collected over the last decade - all of which i consider to be capable of creating best examples.

I obtained this project in 2012 from a Mini Specialist who had had it squirreled in his personal collection for 15 years.

The Car corresponds to the Heritage Certificate ( Matching Numbers ) which confirms that it was built on 14th March 1969 and was dispatched from the factory on the 27th July 1969 to Graham & Roberts Limited in Carlisle when it was first registered on 4th August 1969 to its first owner. The Heritage Certificate confirms that it started life as an RHD Home market Morris Mini Cooper S Mark II ( 1275 cc ) in Island Blue with a Snowberry White Roof and is matching numbers.

The V5 is registered in my name and i am the 7th owner - thankfully I researched the owner-age before the legislation stopped the DVLA providing such information so a full ownership chain is documented within the paperwork.

The Car arrived as it is now having been stripped many years earlier - whilst i haven’t forensically analysed the parts everything important appears to be present - 130 mph speedo even the original badges - all that is excepting the original Coopers Air Box and some trim which would be replaced with new anyway - the car is a full restoration project but the shell is remarkable sound - rusty but not rotten - the underside and under the wheel arches are body colour, no sign of any period underseal and a quick wipe off of the waxoyl reveals clean painted metal - I can't say for sure that it is mainly first / factory paint but it does look very much like it.

The Odometer reads 17293 miles but we have no documentation to support any mileage reading

A Genuine Cooper S was on my Wanted List for some time but being quite fussy I have been generally disappointed with panel gaps and the general quality of the restorations that I have come across - basically most have been restored so many times its hard to see the Original Car - when I found this one I was delighted and have no reservations in saying that this has the potential to be a concours example.

I can say with absolute confidence as a project - this is as good as it gets

Available to view undercover and we do have a ramp so it can be viewed from underneath if required
